Where did you go?

miss-you-32a

To all the bloggers
Who have recently quit writing
Please don’t give up
And keep on fighting
The world longs to hear your thoughts
We crave your stories
And love your plots
It’s hard to imagine
Why you’ve given up on your dreams
Is this what has happened?
Because that’s what it seems
We look forward to your heartfelt posts
Though now it seems
You’ve become a ghost
It’s not like we have the means to come find you
So please break free
From the chains that bind you
We’re in desperate need
Of your words so true
Without your lovely thoughts
We are feeling quite blue
So get your act together
And show us what you’ve got
We need another story
Regardless of whether you feel like writing or not!

  1. A wonderful beckon to absent writers. It’s so sad when one day they disappear. Hopefully they’ll read your words.

  2. I’m hopeful they will…. Some writer’s don’t seem to realize the impact that they have on others. I think that if they did, they would write more often. Words can be so meaningful and special and completely change a person’s day.

  3. I honestly wonder at times too, what leads to the sudden disappearance and prolonged quietness.

  5. I too wonder about unexplained absences, Michelle. I hope the bloggers who disappear are honoring the rhythms of their lives and moving on to greater adventures (versus giving up). The “why” is so important. 🙂

  7. I think a truly depressing moment for me was, on another blog, which had garnered some traffic, I lost interest and let the website die. Eventually I returned (when I decided to make this second blog), and I found three comments asking me to keep making posts and not give up. Really felt like a ghost then.

What irks me more than anything, though, is that it still had traffic (only three or five people a day)! I didn’t make a post in a year, but people kept visiting! Made me feel so guilty…

  8. It can be so hard when you connect with someone and then they suddenly disappear. Sounds like there are quite a few out there missing you on your other blog. We don’t always realize the impact that we have on others. Maybe you can reconnect with some of those old blog followers by sharing the link to your new blog with them. You could always do a post on your old blog to redirect everyone to your new one. 😊

  9. Funny thing is John… I have a blog I have never posted on called Her Writing Haven… and for some reason, people are following me on that page. Not many of course, but still makes me smile. 😊

  10. Thank you, Michelle! I obviously don’t know if you were thinking of my absence or not, but thank you. I truly needed to hear this.:)

  11. I think there were dozens of people I was thinking about when I wrote this. Some have been gone for months now. So sad to see them go. Most of them have left blogging to pursue greater adventures though. I wish them all the best!
