The old married couple

Basking in the glow
Of a warm winter fire
He looks at her
With his usual nervous desire

She soon takes notice
Of his common timid nature
And tries to ease
His typical introverted behavior

Playful shy glances
Send out invisible sparks
An illuminating display
Of unspoken wishes in the dark

Daring to be the one
To make the first move
She subtly slides over
Beaming as he approves

Nestled in the embrace
Of an enduring love
They fit together
Like an old familiar glove

Happy and content
Just to sit and snuggle
Yes this is the life
Of an old married couple
