False Friendships

False friendships plague my door

Leave me never wanting more

Many aren’t genuine and true

If they are it’s rare and few

Why does the world have to be this way?

Can’t people just be honest in what they say?

Time for me to close false doors

Haven’t the time for it anymore

Just been thinking about some of the people in my past who I once thought were my friends, but really weren’t.  I’ve had very few true friends in my life.  I cherish the ones I have now, more than I can even say.  I rarely become close friends with anyone anymore; it’s just become too hard to let anyone get that close to me.  All I can say is… cherish the true friends you do have.

As Robin Williams used to say…

“I used to think the worst thing in life was to end up all alone. It’s not. The worst thing in life is to end up with people who make you feel all alone.”

  1. Sad but true. I have had to close a few doors myself. Makes you stop and think, Michelle

  3. First, I love this quote for its simplicity and profundity. It suits your poem well. About that, I think your words are fantastic and incredibly relevant. I am sorry that you’ve been hurt in the past by false friendships. I’ve been there many times over. Please know that I value our friendship very much, and that I’ll always be here for you. I hope you know that, Michelle. We are bothers and sisters in Christ.:)

  4. Amen
They drag you down and your environment turns negative. I am blessed any good day with my husband here by my side.

  6. Yes they do… Can’t have that going on… Just adds to the chaos of life. I’m blessed to have my family as well. 🙂

  7. So sorry you have experienced that. As the years go, I enjoy being alone or with my closest family. Enjoy being myself and safe 🙂

  9. You’re welcome.:) I am really glad to hear that!
Unfortunately, my family and I are going through a trying time. We could really use your prayers. How are you and yours?

  10. I’m sorry to hear that. I will definitely be praying. I’ve had a nagging feeling something was going on. Let me know if I can help in any way. I am having health issues myself. So not feeling the best. They’re gonna recheck my blood work in a few months, but some of it isn’t looking good. Just have to play the waiting game I suppose.

  11. And I am sorry to hear THAT. The waiting game is the worst! I will certainly pray for you. It seems that there’s a big need for that lately, doesn’t it? Please keep me (us) posted, and I’ll do the same.

You’ve had a nagging feeling? My depression/anxiety will always be an issue (one I’m seeing a behavioral psychologist about, by the way,) but there’s a lot of unhappiness in my family. I hadn’t realized how bad it was until it all sort of culminated yesterday. Oh, did I mention before that Carter is potty training!? 🙂 He is the light in our eyes! He brings such laughter and joy, even if we’re having a lousy day. You know how kids are. They’re magical like that.

  12. I guess after reading some of your posts, I just sort of read between the lines that something was off. I’m good at reading people. Glad to hear about Carter. Take care!

  13. Well my moods have been pretty erratic these last few months, but I don’t think any of us realized just how bad things were. We feel a little better now that the dust has settled. Yeah, I guess you can read people well. It doesn’t hurt that I wear my heart on my sleeve, pardon the cliche, but it’s true. Thank you. Carter doesn’t doesn’t go back to school until Thursday, which makes for a very long and stressful week. I feel bad for him because he gets bored on off days. We will, thank you again. God bless you and yours. Happy Memorial Day.
