Forty…

DSCN9291

Oh the blessed joy
That comes with this age
Still a fine looking book
Mild creases on each page

This is the age
When silver strands appear
You won’t always notice them
As your eyes aren’t as clear

It’s rather strange
When your belly starts to jiggle
This is one of those nuances
Which doesn’t make you giggle

Being this age
Can sort of make you sad
When you think of all the things
You could have done or had

And yet forty definitely has
Its good points too
So many opportunities
A million things left to do

You’re not quite over
That fateful hill yet
So keep living life to the fullest
Leaving no room for regrets

  2. Well said! Are you having a birthday? Happy Birthday either way! Life begins at 40. Some things just need to age properly, like cheese and wine and people too, I suspect.

  3. Nope… Thankfully not. πŸ™‚ Mine was in February. Just thought us 40 some’s could use a bit of humor today.

  6. Cute poem, Michelle. For many of us, 40 is only about half-done. That leaves lots and lots of living to enjoy, even with the creases and jiggles. Ha ha. πŸ™‚

The 40’s were a good decade. Come to think of it, so were the 50’s. The 60’s weren’t bad either. I say goodby to that one in December. You’re merely a child, my dear. :>) It all gets better year after year.

  16. That’s really sweet of you, bless you for saying that πŸ˜ƒπŸ’– I will still read people’s blogs when I can so I’m not disappearing completely-I just realise I’m spreading myself a little too thin and need to look after myself. I am sure the desire to blog will come back one day πŸ™Œ but I just feel like I’ve outgrown the body electric for now. Your kind words make me very happy thank you πŸ’–πŸ’–πŸ˜˜
