Evidence of Autumn

The leaves they swirl

And dance at our feet

Happily they greet us

As we walk along the street

The breeze blows

And gaily chatters along

Graciously lifting our spirits

While it whistles its song

The squirrels they scamper

From dawn until dusk

Carrying mouthfuls of berries

And acorn husks

Then there’s the birds

Preparing for winter’s arrival

For them it’s all about

Heading south for survival

This evidence of autumn

Is clearly seen throughout the day

Steadily reminding us

That winter is on its way
