She never said goodbye…

c3b4d45623ecc93c96d6144d229c1c28

She never saw the tears
Streaming down my face

She never noticed my smile for her
Which could not be erased

She never realized the ache
Which filled my mothering heart

She never knew how much
Her neglect tore me apart

She never looked into my eyes
To see the love that’s always been there

She never said goodbye
And I’m left to wonder if she even cares

  7. It’s so hard….. but we have to let them go…. they have to find their own way. So as a mother, that’s what I’m trying to do…. xo

  10. One thing I have learned, is that no matter the behaviour, everyone cares, we as silly emotional beings tend to show in very strange and sometimes seemingly careless ways. She cares. Just give her time.

  14. So sorry that you felt rejected, Michelle. Sometimes I think our kids just get used to our love and take it for granted. They will age and learn. ❤

  15. I agree D….. It’s a passing phase, but it sure doesn’t make it easy for all of us moms that go through this sort of thing. Still…. my love for her will never change, regardless of what she does.

  16. I remember making my mom cry, and my daughter certainly did that to me. But the love endures and the love wins out ❤

  17. Thanks to my ex my children have an impression of me that will be hard for me to erase. They haven’t spoken to me in nearly 10 years. It is heart wrenching but I can only site and wait and hope that one day they will see the love that was their Dad. Thank you for sharing such a personal poem.

  25. The more we ponder, the more the feelings stay. We don’t ever want to build a reason to push them away.
