The ice so thin

I dared not tread

Afraid to step forward

And find you dead

Even a breath

Seemed too much to take

Imagined us both

Winding up in the lake

Suddenly the ice

Began to crack

The noise was deafening

There was no going back

I dared not move

From my place

Still you disappeared

Without a trace

Nothing could save you

Though I tried to help

The ice broke further

Then began to melt

In the very end

It was all too late

Your body was gone

I cried at our fate
