Heartbroken

alone-279080_960_720.jpg

When your heart is troubled and breaking
Look to a friend to comfort and kiss away the aching

When you’re feeling sad and terribly blue
Remember that there’s others who feel just like you

When you can’t remember the last time you were completely content
Think about the good times and how much they really meant

When the days are long and you lose your way
Find your inner strength and remember to pray

When the day is cold and dreary and fitting for your mood
Stop thinking about the people who have been quite rude

When you’re abandoned once again by that special one
Do something exciting and go have some fun

When you can’t see all the positives waiting for you
Leave your current location and find a new view

When it all seems hopeless and there’s no love in sight
Go find a good friend and hug them real tight

When you’ve tried everything and still can’t find your bliss
Keep trudging along and don’t dwell on the one you miss

When the right time comes, you’ll find an even better catch
Which in time you’ll come to see, is a much better match

  1. Great poem, Michelle, and so true. Feel the pain of loss, but then turn around and see the wide open world that awaits.

  2. Not surprisingly, your poems lately have been very sad, but I love the realization of the goodness the world offers on the flipside.

  3. It’s often hard to find the good… I struggle so much with this. Many of these have been older poems from 2015 & early 2016. Haven’t felt much like writing lately, so this is what I do when I’m in a slump. I repost old material. If I wrote what was really going on in my head at the moment, I’m afraid there wouldn’t be much of a flipside.

  7. This is very nice and uplifting M. I can almost hear to the song “winter spring summer or fall, all you gotta do is call, and I’ll be there yes I will. You gotta friend”
    Lovely, just lovely.

  8. Thanks HG… for some reason most people didn’t seem to like this one the first time I posted it, so I thought I’d give it another try. Still not much interest. Glad you like it though. 😉

  13. Hey hey hey!
Truth is, I have just finished my degree and moved to Australia…this explains my 9 month absence but shhhh…Henry Game is slaying monsters!
I have begun writing the Henry Game Novel. Approx 10k words in. Loving it. It has made me want to revisit the blog.

  14. That’s so weird…. remember that dream I had about you in Australia? Where did you live before? I was just saying last week, I wonder where HG is…. and then suddenly you reappeared. Too weird….. Can’t wait to read your book when it’s all done. I’m still working on editing mine. Halfway through already.

  15. I lived in England. And I know, your dreams must be prophetic or something.
My book is probably going to take me at least a year. I’ll send you a copy. Good luck with the editing. That is where most writers fall out of love with their stories. Stay focused. Even if it is 100 words at a time, you’ll get there

  16. Well I recently just had another one of my dreams come true. Not a happy one either, so there’s got to be something to them. I’d love a copy, thanks! I’ll do the same for you with mine. I’m editing two chapters a week and so far that seems to be working for me.
