The Pearl

The cave was lined

With gemstones and pearls

Enough to cover

A thousand murals

The glittering façade

Was perfectly preserved

Winding its way through

The descending curves

Stalagmites and stalactites

Adorned the inner chambers

And fallen rocks gave clues

Of potential dangers

I thought it seemed strange

To see pearls exist

And I had to delve further

As I could not resist

Deeper I explored

Those passages of glory

Each mystifying wall

Told an intriguing story

I wondered to myself

About all I was seeing

And pinched my arm

To be sure I wasn’t dreaming

Then shone a light

Brighter than the sun

At the beginning of the tunnel

From where I’d begun

This blazing force threw me

Against the sodden wall

And a pearl I’d become

In the midst of it all

  10. A very enticing and deadly cave, somewhat like a black widow spider

  11. Very much so… I’m not sure why, but I very rarely give my characters a happy ending. Seems too easy I guess. Lol… 😉

  15. Lol… you’re so funny Walt. Unfortunately, I’m not very close to finishing any of my books. So it could be a very long wait. 😉
