Well, here’s my final sketch for my mid-term project. My teacher didn’t really want me adding anything else, but I snuck in an extra book because I thought it looked too plain without it. He also wanted me to shade the table, so I did that as well. This was a lot more difficult from my first sketch since this one was done in charcoal and my original sketch was done in graphite. Hopefully I get a good grade. My teacher seems like a tough grader and so far I’m at an 89%. So I’ve got to bring that up a bit if I want to get an “A” in the class. Hope everyone is having a good weekend! 😉

Wow wow wow wow wow
Superb, I would say take those greedy grades, it’s part of making you into master class.
This will help you in long run.
But seriously excellent start

I recently bought a book on sketching, too bad didn’t had the time to look into it and start doing it myself.

Very nice. Yeah, shading the table helps so it doesn’t look like it is floating in air. Though I do like the original version as well.

Thank you Trent. I’m not very good at the shading part yet. It’s something we’ll be focusing more on this coming week. So hopefully I’ll improve. 🙂

Like both of the sketches Michelle, from what you are saying, seems as though the teacher is a little harsh, and or picky. Shouldn’t the sketch also be somewhat from the artist’s point of view, what they envision the finished result should be? Otherwise, everyone’s is similar in vision and not individual…? Good Luck! 😉

Thank you, I would hope so, but I’m only being graded on certain techniques right now. Like foreshortening, one and two point perspective, the use of contour lines, and ellipses.
