“If your Bible is closed, then you will feel distant from God. His word and truth are written there. It’s a gateway, not just a book, a two-way highway to heaven.” ~Carl Webber
This quote was written by my closest friend and confidant, and every time I see it, I feel convicted to pick up my Bible and read it. I love this quote so much, that I printed it out and have it framed on a shelf in my office. It’s a constant reminder to me of a truth that I often try to deny. I’ve really been struggling in recent days. It’s very hard to believe and have faith in God when he isn’t here in the flesh. And even though I still feel his presence every single day, I just wish he’d reveal more of himself to me. I think anyone who believes in God feels like this from time to time. I guess I’m just feeling very discouraged at the moment. My life isn’t how I want it to be, and deep down, I think I often try to blame God for my unhappiness. But I’ve got to remember that he didn’t promise me a perfect life, and I really should be grateful to him that I have any life at all. Anyway, these are the thoughts swirling around my head on this beautiful Monday afternoon. Hope all of you are having a good start to your week. ~M xo
So true and thank you for the conviction in love!! Needed it!

Thank you for sharing this. I think it is a universal truth that if you are disconnected from God’s word, then you will feel distant from God – His words are supposed to be your guidance, so it’s obvious that without them you will feel lost!
Your post reminded me of a tough time I went through a few months ago, when I did not lose my faith, but I still felt that God was very far away, so far that I couldn’t even feel Him listening when I prayed. As usual, when I came out of my depression, I felt everything click into place again. But this time, I felt closer than ever to God because I finally EMOTIONALLY understood certain verses of God’s word (which is different from intellectual understanding). Here they are:
1. “By the Glorious Morning Light,”
2. “And by the Night when it is still,
3. “Your Lord has neither forsaken you nor has He become displeased.”
4. “And surely the hereafter will be better for you than the present (life).”
5. “And soon your Lord will grant you, and you shall be well-pleased.”
6. “Did He not find you an orphan and He sheltered (you)?”
7. “And He found you wandering and He guided (you).”
8. “And He found you in need and He made you self-sufficient.”
9. “Therefore treat not the orphans with harshness,”
10. “And for the one who asks, repulse not,”
11. “And as for the Bounties of your Lord, do proclaim (it).”
The first three lines are literally my favourite words right now, closely followed by, “Indeed, with every hardship, there is ease.” God’s words are not just for solving life’s problems; they also nurture you and bring you peace by bringing you closer to Him.
Thank you for your beautiful thoughts 🙂

Thank you for taking the time to write these out for me. What a comfort words like this are. I’m so happy to hear that you came out of your depression closer to God. I think we see our way more clearly after going through such hardships. ❤️

You are not alone in those feelings Michelle. I have them everyday going back and forth asking Him to help me feel better and than asking Him why He’s making me suffer so much. I’m certainly not where I want to be in life, but I’m alive. I wish I had answers for you. Hope the girls are well dear friend. Hugs to you all. ☺❤

Thank you Walt, I’m sorry for what you’ve been facing, and it makes me feel like I really have nothing to be unhappy about. But I suppose we each struggle in our own different ways.

You shouldn’t feel like that. Yes we struggle in our own ways. Don’t worry about me. ☺❤

We all do it, ask why we’re put through the things that bring us down, or we don’t understand. Remember, dear friend, if He brings you to it, He’ll bring you through it. Love you lots. I’m here if you need me ❤️

Wow! This is incredible. I think the test of believe is a sacred one. No matter what it is.

I hope you’ll be encouraged through the process. “Those who wait on the Lord shall find new strength”, but not just that, I think you will find new understanding too💙
