An early morning conversation with my 8 year old daughter…

Autumn – “Hey mom, guess what!?”

Me – “What?”

Autumn – “I just made fresh eggs for breakfast!”

Me – “Oh?”

Autumn – “Yeah… wanna know how I know the eggs were fresh?”

Me – “Okay, tell me…”

Autumn – “Well, the carton says so!  See… right here.  It says Farm Fresh Eggs!”

Me – “Oh, is that so…”

Autumn – “Yeah, isn’t it great!”

I didn’t have the heart to tell her that those eggs had been in the fridge for at least two weeks… After all, the box said they were fresh!  Lol….

A conversation from earlier today…

Brianna- “Mom, why don’t you like dealing with the dogs?”

Me- “Because I don’t really enjoy picking up poop the size of my head, and I’ve changed enough diapers in my life from you four girls, that I’m quite done dealing with anymore poop.”

Brianna- “Yeah mom, I understand, you already have enough crap to deal with in your life.”

The other day I told my daughter (15) that all of the forks were being washed in the dishwasher and so she’d have to use a spoon to eat her meal.  I had a serving spoon on the counter for her to dish up her meal with, and I figured she’d grab a normal size spoon out of the silverware drawer to eat with.

When I came back a little while later, I found her eating her salad with this…

Yes!  That’s the serving spoon!  I took one look at her and said, “Why aren’t you using a regular sized spoon to eat with?”  She looked at me with wide confused eyes and then began to laugh so hard she could barely talk…  She said, “Oh mom, I thought you meant all the silverware was in the dishwasher and I had to eat with the serving spoon!”

Anyway, it was really funny, and she’s such a petite little person.  So to see her trying to eat with this huge serving spoon made us both laugh.

And look at the difference in size!  Lol… 😉

So, I was in a rush this morning and tried to save myself some time by putting all the eggs together in one skillet.  Here’s what happened… lol.

My daughter Brianna (15) took one look and said…

“Mom, something went wrong there…”

Do you think perhaps she’s correct in her assessment?  Lol… 😉

And just so you know… I didn’t break a single yoke when flipping them over.  So it wasn’t a complete disaster.  🙂

“Hey Mom!  What is this, a knitting needle?”

Caitlyn Cook (daughter, age 23)

How many of you know what this is?  I suppose it could pass for a crochet needle, but it’s actually an orange peeler.  My girls never cease to surprise me by their odd questions, even at this age.  Lol…. 😉

One night, my youngest daughter Autumn (who was about 5 yrs. old at the time) was visited by the tooth fairy.  The next morning I asked her if the tooth fairy had come.  She nodded yes and had a very glum look on her face.  I asked her what was wrong and she told me to come see for myself.  After following her into her bedroom, she pulled out a one dollar bill from under her pillow and said, “See… this is what she gave me!”  I said, “Oh, a dollar!  That’s exciting!  She shook her head in disagreement and said, “Well, the last time I got a whole quarter!”

I was having a conversation with my 15 yr. old daughter, about how everyone has their own strengths and weaknesses.  We came to the conclusion, that we must accept the simple fact, that we can’t possibly do everything.

My daughter had to add this…

Brianna – “Hey mom, even Jesus can’t do everything…”

Me – “What do you mean sweetie?”

Brianna – Well, he can’t sin!”

Me – “Oh, good point!”  Lol…

“I bet I’m the luckiest child on earth, with good parents like you and a comfy bed!”

~Autumn Cook (Age 8)

*Which she proudly proclaimed while saying goodnight, with kisses and bear hugs to boot!  I just hope the teen years go this well!  Lol… 😉

And yes, that’s really her in the photo.

Every night at the dinner table, one of us poses a question for everyone to answer.  Tonight my daughter Autumn asked this one; she said,

“If you could go back in time, how far back would you go, and why?”

So now I’m asking you… my fellow blogger friends.  How would you answer this question?  For me, I don’t know if I’d go back at all since I’m not quite sure what I would hope to accomplish.   ~M

As I was leaving my daughter’s bedroom tonight after tucking her into bed, she called out to me in her sweet quiet little voice, and said, “I’m so glad I have you as my mom.”  Of course, I had to rush right back in and give her another hug.  She is just too precious for words.  Thank you God, for blessings such as these.

A few weeks ago an embarrassing thing happened.  My 15 yr old daughter asked me to show her how to upload pictures to Twitter.  So being the nice mom that I am, I, of course, said yes, and promptly went to grab my phone to show her how to do it.

Unfortunately, I failed to remember that a few hours earlier, I had sent my husband a rather naughty photo of myself, and so when I went to show my daughter how to upload pictures to Twitter from my photo album, that naughty photo was on full display.

As soon as I realized it, I quickly pulled the phone away from her view and tried my best to act as unflustered as I could.  She, of course, looked down at the floor, face bright red, trying so hard not to laugh hysterically.  When she finally looked up at me a minute later, she said, “Well mom, at least it wasn’t a naked picture of grandma!  That would have been so much worse!”

Oh, I had to laugh at her response.  Because of course, having naked pictures of grandma on my phone is a natural thing!  Not!!!

Then my husband walks in, and says what’s going on?  I whispered to him what had just happened, and then in a very loud voice, he says… “Oh, which one did she see?”  I about died all over again, and my daughter, of course, started laughing hysterically.  I tell you, it’s never a dull moment at our house.  I’m going to go hang my head in shame now.  Lol….
