A true treasure

heart-268151_960_720

My love for him

Was like no other

He touched my life

And was as close as a brother

We visited fascinating places

In imaginary worlds

And deeper feelings for him

Were soon unfurled

He was a friend to me

Like I’ve never known

Someone who was there

When I was completely alone

A true treasure of a man

Full of faith and love

Sent to be my devoted friend

From heaven above

Do you…?

wheat-925760_960_720

Do you ever just wish

You had someone to talk to each and every day

Someone who would always be there

To chase those gray clouds and pesky cobwebs away

Do you ever just dream

Of someone who wouldn’t be afraid to hold your hand

Perhaps they’d fly away with you

To some distant faraway land

Do you ever just yearn

For someone to stay close by your side

To have someone to laugh with

And perhaps even for moments to cry

Do you ever just wonder

If someone like this really does exist

Seems like if they did

They’d be very hard to resist

You saved me

ponte-vecchio-691789_960_720

So close was I

To giving up

A crushed spirit

So abrupt

Flashes of death

Crossed my mind

Images of

The disastrous kind

Then you came along

And enlightened my soul

Freeing my bindings

From life’s long toll

Simple words of comfort

Cast their spell

And I found myself

Instantaneously well

Borrowed Heart

hearthand

I borrowed your heart for a day

I desperately needed the time away

And although there wasn’t much to say

You listened and cried with me anyway

Now I can only hope and pray

That eventually I will find my way

Thanks for lending your heart for a day

The Daily Post/Poem prompt – Borrowed

I see the real you

1

I see the real you that’s hidden from sight

I see the real you as you inwardly fight

I see the real you and wish I was there

I see the real you and want you to know I care

We’d be free… free just to be.

IMG_20151103_1414393982

I wish I had a friend who would pretend with me once more

Masquerading away the day, we’d be silly and free

Free to be a princess, a pirate, or even a superhero

Regardless of whomever we wanted to be

We’d be free

Free just to be

Oh to be five once again…

To feel alive again…

I wish I had a friend who would ride bikes with me all day

Riding around the neighborhood, we’d be silly and free

Free to explore the park, the zoo, or even the beach

Regardless of wherever we wanted to go

We’d be free

Free just to be

Oh to be ten once again…

To feel alive again…

I wish I had a friend who would spend some time with me

Bumming around together, we’d be silly and free

Free to hang out at the arcade, go bowling, or even catch a movie

Regardless of whatever we decided to do

We’d be free

Free just to be

Oh to be fifteen once again…

To feel alive again…

I wish I had a friend who could understand what I’m going through

Never-ending late night talks, we’d be silly and free

Free to discover who we are, speak honestly, and become forever friends

Regardless of whatever we discovered about each other

We’d be free

Free just to be

Oh to be twenty once again…

To feel alive again…

I wish I had a friend who would help me make tough decisions

Coming alongside me, we’d be silly and free

Free to dream, think, and consider the future

Regardless of whatever we planned

We’d be free

Free just to be

Oh to be twenty-five once again…

To feel alive again…

I wish I had a friend who would help me be a better parent

Giving me some guidance, we’d be silly and free

Free to learn how to cope, adjust, and love unconditionally

Regardless of whatever we learned

We’d be free

Free just to be

Oh to be thirty once again…

To feel alive again…

I wish I had a friend who could help me fix my marriage

Lending me their shoulder, we’d be silly and free

Free to face problems together, comfort one another, and show compassion

Regardless of whatever we experienced

We’d be free

Free just to be

Oh to be thirty-five once again…

To feel alive again…

I wish I had a friend who would make me feel young again

Through words of reassurance, we’d be silly and free

Free to laugh at ourselves, cry at times, and encourage one another

Regardless of our age

We’d be free

Free just to be

Oh to be forty once again…

To feel alive again…

To be continued when I’m older… ❤

If I was there…

If I was there…

If I was there I’d hold your hand
I’d tell you that I understand

If I was there I’d give you a hug
I’d tell you to sweep your woes under a rug

If I was there I’d dry your tears
I’d tell you that you need not fear

If I was there I’d kiss your cheek
I’d tell you that it’s God you must seek

If I was there I’d never let you go
I’d tell you that I love you so

Some thoughts on friendship…

A new friend often wishes you well.

An old friend can only hope you are well.

A good friend asks you regularly if you are well.

A best friend makes sure you most certainly are well, and then socks you in the arm or starts a pillow fight if you aren’t.  😉

As a child, I never quite understand the purpose or point of imaginary friends.  Maybe it was the fact that I disliked the real friends I had so much, that there was no possible way I would have ever wanted to make more of them in imaginary form.  All of my children have had imaginary friends, so it sort of got me wondering why I never did.  Have any of you ever had an imaginary friend?

*Came across this quote tonight, which was on the inside of this bottle cap.  So much truth in these ten simple words.

Who brought a smile

Wherever he went

Yes, he was that boy…

And my tears just won’t relent

Appreciate your friends while you can…

girls-1209321_960_720

All my life I’ve been hopeful

For just one amazing good friend

Somebody who would fully accept me

And be there until the very end

I think my heart has begun to realize

That life doesn’t work this way

People just seem to come and go

And sadly they can’t always stay

Everyone has their own lives to live

And living them can be very rough

And I understand it’s hard to be there for others

When facing issues which are extremely tough

I suppose the trick is just to be happy

And appreciate the time we do have with our friends

For we never know the day or hour

When those moments could suddenly come to an end
