Betrayed – Part 4

The continuing story… Part 3 can be found here.

As night approached, Scarlett began to feel a sense of dread wash over her.  Dark billowy clouds were rolling in from the west.  It looked as if she was about to cross paths with an advancing storm, and without shelter, she knew she was in trouble.  The trunk was too heavy and too deeply embedded in the sand to move by herself, so without further hesitation, she continued on.  She walked the length of the beach, which seemed to continue on for several miles.  After walking for at least an hour, she could go no further.  The tide was coming in, and her path was blocked by a sheer limestone cliff.  Her only other option at this point was to negotiate the tree line, with the hope of finding safe refuge beyond the desolate beach.  Scarlett was apprehensive about crossing over into the thicket.  At least on the beach, she could see what was around her, but within the confines of the forest, she knew she would be facing the unknown.  And yet with darkness pressing in and a storm about to break forth, she began to meander her way through the dense vegetation; hopeful to find a place to shield herself from the coming storm.

Betrayed – Part 2

The continuing story…  Part 1 can be found, here.

Weak and weary from her merciless ordeal, Scarlett mustered up enough strength to explore her whereabouts.  As exhausted as she felt, she knew she wouldn’t survive if she just stayed where she was.  Earlier that day, she had been carelessly tossed into the icy waters, by a man whom she thought she could trust.  He was someone she had swooned over, for the majority of her young adult life.  Eventually, she discovered a scandalous side of him, which in the end made her disposable.  She had never been a very strong swimmer, and the frigid waters nearly took her breath away.  After almost drowning from the undertow, she somehow managed to escape the forceful current, before it had a chance to overpower her completely.  The sandy beach was deserted, and from first glance, the island seemed to be uninhabited.  Although she had heard rumors of headhunters settling on islands like these, she tried to keep her mind focused on her current predicament, and not assume the worst.

Betrayed – Part 1

An ominous sky overshadowed her petite pale frame, as auburn strands of salty wet tresses held fast to her cold wet skin.  Her thin white cotton dress clung to her body and revealed her emaciated figure.  She sat motionless on the rocky precipice, with her scraped knees tucked up under her chin and her listless arms wrapped around her bruised legs.  She shivered as the waves descended upon her frail form and braced herself each time the saltwater flowed freely over her superficial wounds.  Determined not to shed a single tear for his benefit, she faced the onslaught of breakers, and let the raging sea carry away her disparaging thoughts.  She wouldn’t give him the satisfaction of knowing that he had humiliated and crushed her unadulterated spirit.  Instead, she would make him pay dearly for his cruel behavior; only just as soon as she could find a way to escape the godforsaken island, where he had so nonchalantly discarded her, like a useless piece of rubbish.

New Series… Tales of the Dark Side – (Part 1, Childhood Pranks)

Yes, I was the bratty older sister, and anyone who has known me long enough, realizes just how naughty I can be.  Most of my friends and family members know, that if the opportunity arises for me to pull a good prank, I’m usually up for the challenge.  So let me take you back to my senior year in high school…

I had a brother who was an annoying twerp.  Being he was eleven years younger than me, I loathed his presence most days; and since he was much younger, he sort of put a crimp in my bleached blond style.  Especially on one particular day, I remember it well…

I had just gotten home from shopping with my super cool boyfriend, Eddie Spaghetti.  I know… some nickname, but it’s what his sister called him, so it was a name that stuck.  Anyway, Eddie dropped me off at my door, and I went inside wearing my brand new suede jacket.  I had been saving my money from an after school job for months, and even though the jacket was a size too big, I had bought it anyway.  It was exactly what I felt I needed, to properly fit in at school.

I headed for the kitchen, starved from not eating all day, and saw my brother standing there holding a can of coke.  I sauntered over to him, showing off my new look, and said very casually, “What do you think of my new suede jacket?  It only cost me $300.”  Well, that did it, my brother had just taken a huge swig of soda, and he immediately started choking.

Coke began spurting uncontrollably out of his nose and then shot straight out from his mouth, spraying ruthlessly in my direction.  By the end of his choking fit, (yes, you guessed it) I was completely covered in a thick layer of coke spittle.  Or should I say, my new $300 jacket was covered.  My brother immediately started laughing and pointing his finger at me, and in his taunting young voice, he said, “Ha ha… I ruined your new jacket…”

I stood there in shock, trying to absorb what had just happened, and then I suddenly lost all control.  All I knew in that moment, was that my brother needed to be taken down, strangled, and left for dead.  Well, as I was in the process of choking the living hell out of my angelic little brother, my mother happened to show up.

Having just gotten home, she didn’t seem very happy with what she had walked into.  As expected, I got the full ass chewing, about a million crude words hissed at me, and booted into my room where I was grounded for the rest of the day.  I still wanted to kill my brother, but knew I’d never be able to get away with it.  Then the idea of revenge began to seep into my mind.
