Did I ever tell you that we own a timeshare? Have I ever told you how big of a mistake it really is to buy a timeshare? Well, if I haven’t, I’m telling you now… stay far Far Far FAR away from anyone explaining timeshares! I’m serious! And if you sell timeshares, SHAME ON YOU!!! Oh you know what I’m talking about!!! Don’t try to tell me that you’re innocent! Timeshares are the biggest scam out there and everybody knows it! At least everyone does except for Brian and I! We have owned a timeshare for the last 20 years, and apparently we are still falling for their lies. I won’t go into the gory details of our most recent encounter, but let me tell you, we were foolishly swindled once again! Anyway, this was how we started our day; the first seven hours of it to be precise! The promised one hour spiel, turned into a seven hour interrogation of sorts. Thank God that is over!
Now back to the grand adventure…
We are now perusing the “Strip,” going from one casino to the next; looking for something interesting to do today. I have always wanted to see what all the hullabaloo was about, in regards to the M&M museum. In actuality, the M&M museum is nothing more than a four story shopping mall, of floor to ceiling M&M paraphernalia. The only cool thing was the free 3D show that they offered, which took all of about 15 minutes to watch. Hey, at least I can say I’ve been there and done that!
After mostly window shopping and exploring the hidden treasures of Vegas, we remembered that we needed to keep track of the time so that we wouldn’t forget about our evening plans. The only consolation to our early morning debauchery, was that we were given free tickets for a fancy dinner and also two tickets for “Vegas the Show.” Making out way over to Planet Hollywood was nothing short of a miracle, because the crowds of people on the Strip were covering the pathways like ants on a sugary treat.
We finally made it over to Pampas Churrascaria Brazilian Grille. I’ll have to say, I was pleasantly surprised to find the atmosphere quite appealing despite how busy the place was. We started off with the salad bar, which in itself was enough to satisfy a king or a queen. Of course that was just the beginning, the main course was just as heavenly and I don’t think that I have ever tasted anything so satisfying in my entire life! I guess I’m secretly Brazilian! Who knew? The food was to die for and seriously, if I ever end up on death row and get to request one final meal, I’m ordering food from this place!
Once our stomachs were full and our cheeks a little rosier from the piña coladas, we found our way through the maze of people over to the Saxe theatre where Vegas the Show was playing. For some reason there was a mix up with our seats and they ended up seating us front center stage. We kept expecting someone to come tell us to move to the back of the theatre, but fortunately for us, we got to watch the show from the best seats possible! Vegas the Show tells the musical story about Las Vegas and features celebrity impersonators who sing their greatest hits in order to preserve the memory of how Vegas used to be. There were showgirls, dancers, variety acts, and sets that represented the city as it once was. We saw Elvis, the Rat Pack, Tina Turner, Elton John, and many others who gave wonderful impersonations of the original artists. The way the actors portrayed Vegas, was reminiscent of what I remembered from our first time there and it made me feel a bit sad that so much has since changed. Day seven was surely an adventure that I won’t soon forget, the good and the bad…
Sounds like you are enjoying your adventure! And you are so right about timeshares.

I know! Isn’t that picture amazing the way it turned out! It really does look like the boat is floating! When I was going through the pictures at home, I was so excited to find this one. And yes, try the Brazilian food if you ever have a chance. It’s extraordinary!

Sounds like you and the family had a fun trip & made lots of incredible memories! Jenny & I almost fell into the timeshare trap. We were told we had to make an instant decision, because the deal would not be available tomorrow. Jenny was horrified when I replied, “No we don’t. I’m positive I can find a sales person who will be happy to take my money any time :)”
I’m glad we didn’t buy. However, your post is an excellent reminder that our family does need to be more intentional about making time for family trips & adventures. Thanks for sharing parts of your adventure with us!

You’re welcome Jed, and thankfully you were smart and listened to your intuition. I should have trusted mine. I hope that you and your family can find the time to take a vacation. The great thing is, that a vacation doesn’t have to be far from home to be tons of fun. We are finding tons of great day trips around here to keep us busy. Staying close to home helps keep the costs down too.

We have a timeshare in Maui, so far we use it or trade it for somewhere else or gift someone with a week. It helps to have a big, blended family

That seems to be the only way around it when you can’t take a trip yourself. I wish our maintenance fees weren’t so high or I wouldn’t mind it so much.

I always wondered about time shares. Once you have one isn’t it like a contract for life?

Yes, pretty much; unless you want to sell them your soul. 🙂

Looks like a great vacation! We were in Orlando one year and got ‘invited’ to a timeshare presentation. I didn’t want to buy in Orlando. I mean, I was so burned out by the Disney experience, that I couldn’t see myself going again. Anyway, the person who was trying to hard-sell me on the condo said to me “If you truly love your family, you will buy this condo”. Wow! Talk about being over the top!

Thanks, it was! I’m so glad that you didn’t fall for their scheming tactics. You were one of the lucky ones that got away!

I did survive, Michelle. But I think that the comment about not loving my family made me overspend at Disney. 😉

Lol! Well at least now, you have all those souvenirs to remind you of how much you don’t want to go back! We’re heading to Orlando in May for the very first time. Have to use up all those timeshare points before they expire!

We got lured into timeshares, my ex and I. He tried to get me to help him pay half of the maintenance free and said we can take turns using it. We had already lost several years worth and I have no money. So I don’t know what happened to it. We tried to sell it (the place got the money from us, but they didn’t sell it) and we tried to rent at least one or two of the built up years. Nope, no renters interested. Biggest scam in the world.

So you can obviously feel my pain. The only good thing… it forces us to take a vacation every year, whether we want to or not! 🙂
