The Narrow Gate

13 “Go in through the narrow gate, because the gate to hell is wide and the road that leads to it is easy, and there are many who travel it. 14 But the gate to life is narrow and the way that leads to it is hard, and there are few people who find it.

Matthew 7:13-14 Good News Translation (GNT)

I’ve been thinking about this so much lately.  Anybody have any thoughts to share?  It seems a mystery to me most days, how we’re ever supposed to find the narrow gate in the first place.  Seems difficult, if not impossible.  But nothing’s impossible with God… right?  ~M

  1. I’m a preacher’s kid and I have no idea. Actually I do. I live. There are many roads. Choose wisely. So what if life is hard? It’s a test of our faith and is better than no life. I just take things as they come and do the best I can.

  2. Great thoughts to contemplate, MI see “the way of the world” as the wide gate and when traveling through life we can only find the narrow gate by comparing all we see, hear and do to God’s Word. Scripture is our map and The Holy Spirit our guide. My thoughts… 🙂

  3. I think that if we do our best to follow the Word of God, the words of God and live the way He wants us to live, that we are on the “narrow path”. The thing is, because the path is narrow which does make it more difficult to stay on. The path of the world is easier, wider, and more seductive, not to mention louder. We have to really rely on God in order to stay on the Narrow path.

    1. Yeah, I came across a fortune cookie the other day that made me remember these scripture verses. I forget what the fortune said, but ever since then I’ve been pondering these scriptures with more thought than I normally would. I do believe God gives us open invitations to find him each and every day, and I think he uses the ordinary things in our lives to do it. And when he shows me something, I know I need to figure it out. It’s like a puzzle in a way. I know what the literal meaning of these scriptures is, but what I want to know is the deeper truths here. There’s always more than meets the eye when it comes to scripture. I think only those who seek the answers will ever really find them.

      1. But that’s a good thing! If we knew the answers to everything, where would the journey really begin? We have to decipher the code before we reach the answers. Keeps us thinking! You’re doing fine…look at your girls. They’re all the proof you need ❤

        1. Well yeah, I see your point… they are pretty amazing… 😉 Maybe I’m just good at leading others to the narrow door, and yet I can’t seem to find it myself sometimes! Lol…
