November Writing Prompts

Here’s what I like to do with the prompts.  Hope you’ll try this too!  And for all of you participating in NaNoWriMo this month, best of luck to you!  😉

To begin, settle into your favorite place in the house with a hot drink to warm your waking bones.  Once you’ve warmed up a bit; grab your journal, a trusty pen, and a timer.  Then, set your timer for ten minutes and begin writing about one of the prompts.  Don’t worry about spelling, punctuation, neatness, or anything like that; just write!  Write about anything and everything that comes to your mind, and don’t stop until the ten minutes are up.

I often find myself writing short stories or poems during those ten minutes, but you can write about anything you like.  And don’t be alarmed if what you’ve written doesn’t quite make sense.  The whole idea behind doing this exercise is to get your mind ready and working so that you can begin your day.  Just think of it as exercise for your brain, and once you’ve done your ten minutes of writing, you’ll feel more prepared to tackle the rest of your day.

      1. Time to be open about my “technical ignorance ” I’m going to my piece. I right click, “copy address” comes up. I go to your comments page and hit “paste”. Could it be the PC I’m using? I want to do this from my android phone, but have no idea how. Help!

        1. Oh, I see what you’re doing. You actually need to go to the November prompts list on my page, and click on the header. The one that says November writing prompts. Then copy the URL from the top of your browser, and paste that link into your post. I’m not sure how that translates to an android phone. Probably easier from a computer. I hope this helps. 😉

            3. Oh of course! And you’re welcome to always do the prompts out of order. So many people do. 😉 Best to do what ya feel like doing on any given day, rather than feel forced to write about something that isn’t necessarily inspiring you. 😉

            5. Oh gosh… really??? No, no no… I suppose I need to make that absolutely clear on my next post. I like to print them out, cut them apart, and throw them into a jar. Then you can pick one randomly each day if you want. 😉
