A quick update…

Hey everyone,

Just wanted to give all of you a quick update.  Since the start of the new year, I have been trying to figure out a way to make this year better than last.  I know I can’t have a repeat of last year, as it nearly killed me.  So after doing a lot of thinking over the last couple of weeks, I have decided that I really need to focus more of my time on novel writing.  I also want to make some changes here on WordPress.  So you may see me introducing a variety of new and different types of blog posts from here on out.  Another thing is, I am no longer going to be active on social media.  So Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc… have all been removed from my phone.  These platforms have just become too much of a distraction for me and I can’t seem to focus on the work that I need to get done because of it.  I may decide to check those accounts once a month if I have some free time, but I definitely won’t be on there more often than that.  Anyway, here’s to hoping that I’ll be able to make some progress this year.  Hope all of you are doing the same.  Love you guys!  ~M  xoxo

  1. I don’t blame you, I don’t get on any of that social media very often. I may once a day, sometimes not even then. I probably check Facebook a smidge more often then the others because I use to it to keep track of new pictures of my granddaughters but other than that not so much.

  2. I think it is a good plan. All the social media is a waste of precious time. When your novel is ready for publication you can start an advertising campaign – share it. But now you have to write it 🙂 Best of luck to you.

    1. Thank you…. and I couldn’t agree more. It’s time for me to get serious about my writing career and I can’t do that with all the extra distractions. It’s already hard enough with two children at home who always need mommy. So if I’m going to have distractions, I’m choosing them over everything else. 😉

        1. Yeah, and I can’t think of a better one than my girls. They mean the world to me. Hope your weekend is going well. I was sorry to see that one of your favorite artists passed away. I looked at that painting you posted of his and I was awed by the incredible detail. I had never heard of him before. I’ve certainly been missing out!

            1. I would love to see some of your drawings or paintings. I haven’t done much with my artistic abilities in recent days either. I also play a bit of piano, but only ever had a few lessons, so I am not very good. Still it relaxes me to play it when I have free time.

            2. I gave away all my paintings, but I have a project in mind and I might do it this summer 🙂
I still play the piano, but not that often lately. I wonder would I achieve anything if I studied art. Who knows 🙂
If you only had a few lessons but still play the instrument, you must be very talented. I was in school seven years, from 6 to 13, and studied another 3-4 subjects, like conducting, history of music. Didn’t want to go to the college though. Now I mostly do accompaniments. Of course I can read the sheet music and all, but I have no instrument at home, so it is all sporadically. Music enriched my life anyway. You should hear me singing along in the car 🙂

            3. Oh you should do the project and then share it. Would love to see it. 🙂 I think I would be much better at art if I studied it, but I haven’t the time for everything. I took piano lessons for about 6 months and went about 2x per month. I started lessons as an adult when my husband was deployed to Iraq. I wanted to learn before he came home. I still dabble in it now, and my 3rd born is very musically gifted. She plays by ear and composes all of her own music. It’s lovely to listen to her play. I myself am not much of a singer, although my girls tell me I’m amazing when I do. I think they are just a bit biased. Lol…. I do love to sing the songs from the movie “Sound of Music.” My girls love it when I do and we have a good time with it. 🙂

            4. Sound of Music! It is fantastic that you can sing these beautiful songs. And you did the right thing when you started that music class. First of all, it kept your mind off things, and then you could help your daughter too. Music in family is a treasure. I think music is the most wonderful of all arts.

            5. Well when I was in junior high school, I was in the school choir. We were taught those songs from Sound of Music. I have never forgotten them.

And yes, I was able to help get my daughter started with piano, and now she is much better than me. She has a natural talent for it, where as I really have to work at it. 🙂 xo
